Description

I vividly remember when I was inspired with my first “Last Supper” painting. The room I was in, where I was sitting, etc. Flooded with emotion, I couldn’t wait for the painting to begin.

That was fifteen years ago.

Over the years I have occasionally painted a different interpretation when a new image would be revealed. But it’s been a while.

I have wanted to hang a “Last Supper” in the gallery since the day I opened almost seven years ago.

But it just hasn’t happened.

Until now.

For the first time, there is one on my gallery wall.

These paintings are quite an undertaking for me. Not only are they large with many elements, but the elements must tell a story.

This one tells the story of the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. It starts with the darkest night and leads to the most glorious day.

In this one I wanted to let the details be more vague until your eye gets to the white dove – Jesus. This lets the attention go to him, then the cross, then the light of a new day.

All of this is connected by the scarlet thread that runs straight through the painting, letting it leave you with the greatest sense of hope.

These paintings take a great amount of time and it was a meaningful part of the experience that I was working on it the week of Easter.

I don’t know if another one will ever come, and I’m okay with that. But I’m glad this one did.

In it, may you be reminded of the greatest event in the history of mankind, and because of it, the greatest gift man can ever receive.

Redemption.
